Feels like I spent most of this week responding to 1,000 different threads scattered across all projects I am involved with, nudging things along bit by bit. According to my to-do list, I got 55 things done (writing this update will be 56). That list includes things I really have to do, ranging from ~15 minutes to ~2 hours.
Mo, Daniel and I wrote and published the first quarterly review of the foundation. I‘m very happy with this first quarter. We’re still figuring things out, but managed to get some good funding and give out the first grants. And we’re looking to finalize 4 more grants before focusing back on fundraising and forming a board.
I reviewed Michael’s inheritance reference design and Mo’s Bitcoin Core App case study draft for the guide, and am looking to see how we can implement Sven’s feedback on the join page.
Mo and I started documents where we gather info about lots of bitcoin wallets & applications. Goal is to have a go-to place to find all relevant info about the projects, their roadmap and features, past interactions with the design community, and how we could potentially help them in the future. That would ideally bridge the gap between guide work and direct project implementation. But first, some groundwork needs to be done.
We had several design and implementation conversations for the Bitcoin Core App, and I worked on a research plan with Mo, and finalized animations. Those will be played during first use and visualize several concepts that users should understand well. The first use also sets the tone as to overall execution, so adding nice touches there can be a good idea.
I only did some minor contributions to Saving Satoshi, to help with a couple of PRs. Really need to prioritize this project either next week or the week after.
For the Bitcoin Layers project, I chimed in on the project docs by the team and worked a little on the site design during the huddle. They like the cake metaphor, which I also find fun. Would be cool if that’s the one we move forward with, but that’s up to the group to decide. Check last week’s update to see why cake.
There were various conversations with Summer of Bitcoin students, who are pretty active in Discord as they are working on their project proposals and questions come up. Good to support them in creating proposals, since those are defining the blueprint and expectations for the work during the summer program.
Start of the next week will be about BTC Prague and Accessibility day planning, grant proposal feedback, and I have several tasks around Saving Satoshi that need focus. I also really need to get the PR about human-readable addresses out the door.
Happy Sunday and happy halving.
