Summer slowdown? Not at all. At least not yet.
For the Bitcoin Core App, I made a PR for some visual polish on the activity screen, and also worked on getting the send flow on our design files, design docs, and web prototype in sync.
I spent a good amount of time designing and building the site for the Presidio Bitcoin Design Week in September. I am really enjoying the collaboration with Mat and Mo on this. Next week proper promotion will start, and there’s still a lot of organizational stuff to happen in the background.
Here’s a chart that shows the current thinking of the future structure of our more formalized education and grant programs. Check the last update for more background. Would probably take 1-2 years to roll this out and mature it until we have really nailed all the operational stuff. Next step is to share this graph, and a long document that goes along with it with a few relevant people to get feedback.
Summer of Bitcoin is also coming soon to an end, as well as the first Bitshala design fellowship, so there’s a bunch of effort around helping the students and fellows with their next steps. Having a good approach to that is also going to be a big part of the above education program.
Also spend a little bit of time looking at how we can make the grant process a bit easier. I think there’s still a lot of friction to get people to consider a grant in the first place and figuring out if this is even something for them and putting together a proposal. There’s a new site for submitting proposals to multiple organizations, but I think that’s more so for when you already figured out that you’re going to do this, and have a plan. What I came up with are two docs, a “Project Fit Assessment” and a “Proposal Worksheet”. The first helps you quickly figure out if you and your project are generally a match. And the second is a thinking and planning tool you go through before you might write a proposal. Both might go in some form or another on the foundation’s grant info page, but I am gathering feedback for now. What do you think?
If all this stuff above happens, I think we’re going to be very well set up operationally.
Also got started a bit this week with the 5-year report (we now have a proper issue), but really need to dig into that next week together with Paper. I think a good goal would be to have this done by end of the month. Can’t believe it’s been 5 years.
And lots of small things happening in parallel and all over the place, as usual. We’ll see what all comes to fruition.
Peace & Happiness.
