As with previous posts, projects are progressing steadily. Never in a direct line, but things are moving.
The next release of Arké will have themes. They’ll be pretty simple for now, just switching out a few images in some key places. I also want to look into tweaking the color palette per theme subtly, but that will require more time. This here is a good first step to feel out.
Also did the groundwork for localizations and got first drafts of German and Japanese in, both languages also spoken in my household so I can somewhat easily verify the quality. Definitely needs some iteration, but good to have a base now.
The tougher part of the work, for which I don’t have nice visuals for, has been in two other areas.
Multi-device usage has been part of the plan from the start, but the iCloud-centric architecture for is rough. I built out lots of pieces for it over time, but now need to revise it and ensure it covers various use cases and failure modes. Currently working through this planning doc.
And Second has released 6 releases of the bindings since my last blog post. They are really moving fast and it is quite a bit of work keeping up, even with all the AI support. For example, the new VTXO recovery from seed, and schedule delegated refreshes at future block heights, require rethinking those respective feature implementations overall and seeing what adjustments are appropriate. Really great to have these, just means lots of nitty-gritty refinement work and testing.
That’s probably why I sometimes need these more visual side-quests, like themes.

Let’s move on the Bitcoin Core App. Lots of work getting done there. I’ve been chiming in on various issues that are related to design.
A tricky one is how to interpret on-chain data and reflect it in the UI in a way that makes sense to the user. I find it important to map out various scenarios to avoid circular conversations, so I created this below (with feedback naturally).
And then we can more easily figure out what shape the activity, activity details and transaction detail screens need to take.
All a work in progress. But I am excited to see the momentum and more people chipping in.
