Straightforward
What a great start of the week, Saving Satoshi got picked as a finalist for the Legends of Lightning tournament. Final pitches happen next week on December 6. We're working on filling in a few gaps - Juan is working on development, Stacie on the story, Jonas outlined more lessons, and I am tightening up a few designs. It's a great team and I'm excited for the next week and beyond. Best of luck to all the other finalists, lots of really good projects and people there.
There was an interesting discussion on Twitter about accessibility of bitcoin applications. There are some tough problems, like how people with no vision can handle private keys. From testing, most apps still fail at very basic accessibility practices that can be fixed within hours. Would be great if this topic got more attention, and we could slowly raise the bar over time. Something really useful would be for people who have those needs to document their experience and share it (could be anonymous). This would be good for makers to better understand what the problems are.
One a similar note around inclusion, I saw a project building a mnemonic seed translator on bolt.fun. I still hope we can more wallets to support multi-language recovery phrases - there's an issue on the topic here. This translator could help with some of the concerns around people getting stuck with recovery phrases in languages that wallets don't support.
We discussed my designs I posted last week in the latest Wallet Scrutiny project call. I think it became pretty clear in this first call that there are more discussions and design iterations to be had until everyone can rally around a direction that works for the project. We're early in the process, so totally to be expected.
This took a lot of time, but I made good progress on the prototype for the daily spending wallet. The almost 200 screens are finally standardized in Figma and I updated a ton of them with minor revisions this week to the guide (via 10 PRs). A couple more pages to go, and then it should be fairly straightforward to finalize the prototype. This one will be accessible from the reference design landing page so people can get a feel for the experience before diving in deeper.
Unfortunately, I missed the Bitcoin Beach Wallet design review. I'll have to catch up with the recording next week.
This weeks community call was nice - we simply went over the latest newsletter and shared a few more details on each point. Reminds you how much stuff there is going on at all times.
That it's for now. Have a good weekend.
