I was sick much of the week before this one, so I had skipped the update then. Finally back to being healthy, plus the weather is super nice, so it’s all good.
So Accessibility Awareness Day is only 11 days away (our event). I’ve been speaking with a few different people and it’s starting take some shape. Zeus will offer a 1M sat bounty for accessibility improvements, and the Muun team also said they’ll prioritize accessibility work for that day. Still waiting to hear from others, but I am super thankful already for those two teams participating (👏🏼). A key seems to be to split the task of identifying accessibility issues and documenting them (which we’ve done), from implementation fixes. The former is a good one for designers, the latter for developers. Splitting makes it easier for someone to come in, pick up a task, and get it done. So we’ll also try to organize some test & issue-finding efforts. I really hope we can make even just a small difference on the 18th.
BTC Prague planning is also in full-force. Furniture, talks, activities, swag, signage, tech setup, etc. It’s quite a lot that has to come together the next 4 weeks. But it’s going to be fun. One of the activities I am looking into is to create a card game that encapsulates aspects of the design process & bitcoin design community culture in a short playful activity - as a conversation starter for the conference. If you’d like to help with any of this, peek in the #conferences channel in Discord.
Another more playful thing I am looking at are Nostr badges to give away to booth visitors, hack-day attendees, and also contributors to the accessibility day. Why not have fun with these things (fun does not mean things can’t also be serious and meaningful).
The Saving Satoshi crew is still wrapping up chapter 2. I’m revising chapter 3 to be ahead of development, and also put this video below together for new contributors to image generation. It’s quite the intricate creative task.
And a few other things going on:
Nosta got a new profile layout. Also got contacted by Artur about creating an onboarding kit, a standardized library for Nostr apps to offer smooth first-use flows. Some discussion happening there.
The Wallet Scrutiny team is implementing designs. We’ll get an update on Tuesday.
Discord onboarding is now properly set up. Sounds basic, but pretty important to consider every aspect of this, and Discord offers some really nice features.
Bitcoin Block Munich, the bitcoin mall space is happening right now? I was at the soft opening, and will also go there next week to support and co-work. What a great initiative. Twitter has some pics.
Foundation work is ongoing. Still chatting with the tax office to get the statute finalized and researching banks and insurance.
Got some small design tasks for the Bitcoin Core App, as well as planning out the larger design process for the next months.
Also need to get back into the guide and give it much more attention. This likely has to come after BTC Prague as I will have more time then. Feeling a bit bad that this project (along with the UI Kit) hasn’t made lots of progress recently. Lots to do there.
So overall lots of planning and coordination, with various other activities sprinkled on top for good measure.
And as I am writing this Sunday night, the mempool is packed and medium priority fees are at 371 sats/vbyte. Cray cray. Going to be interesting to see how this pans out, never a dull moment.
✌️
Thanks for sharing successes and failures in your image generation. cool
