My absolute highlight this week was spending 10 hours fixing my local development environment, in order to update a dependency that GitHub recommended as a security measure for the Bitcoin Design repo. It works now, after purchasing Ruby on Mac and resetting my complete environment and starting from scratch. Super fun.
Otherwise, lots of organizational things this week. Currently in the air are:
New bitcoin tech exploration initiatives for
FOSS Backstage early March
LDK hackathon and Advancing Bitcoin mid-March
Accessibility day in mid-May
Possible a collaboration with Blockstream on a Greenlight hackathon late March
Oslo Freedom Forum early June
Early BTC Prague hack-day design track conversations for mid-June
First two foundation grants
Yesterday, I spent a lot of time project management and updating design docs for the Bitcoin Core App. Should be in much better shape now, as there were various threads that just need wrapping up…
Ideas for developer options.
Language picker.
Peer details.
And various other things. I think the project really needs pace-making, so individual efforts are completed in reasonable times and to avoid infinite conversation loops.
It seems to be a time for getting things off the ground. Done well, should be smooth sailing weeks and months from now. We’ll find out.
I’ll be out until Wednesday, so going to be a shorter week for me. Next update will probably be the Friday after.
Have a good weekend.
Peace & happiness.
