Or is it?
Will there be a future where we all stare at node stats on massive screens in our sci-fi living rooms?
I doubt it. But this week we had a nice call in the Bitcoin Core App project about the role of the node in the UI, brought forward by a community member. Everyone depends on nodes, but many people may not care, or may not care about it right away, or they may just quietly appreciate it. For others, it will be the focal point of the application. Balancing different use cases and the respective needs is a fun challenge in design. This application is a unique one and I’m excited to see where we’ll end up at. In the mean time, we keep it practical and take step by step. Like by updating the design docs for the navigation milestone.
I spent a little time preparing the new icons for the upcoming Bitcoin Icons milestone. One more iteration or so and I think it will be ready to go.
Saving Satoshi chapter 5 design is also making progress. We’re learning about verifying signatures. I generally understand the steps, but would not be able to solve this. Luckily I am not the target audience. A few more iterations and we’ll be in good shape.
And the team wrapped up development and QA of chapter 3. Might be time to get more public with the project now.
And then just a ton of thinking, planning, writing, researching and discussing of all things Foundation. It’s quite a lot of work to shape everything, even with the Open Collective platform. I’m excited for it. Helps that all the people involved with it are great. It will be really cool to support more designers and design work.
Two hackathons start next week. Are you in?
— Peace & happiness.
