What a mix of things these last few days were, from super top-level things to small details. Since my previous update was Monday, I’ll just go over things quickly.
Had a call with Hazel and Mo about upcoming Wallet Scrutiny design (and other) tasks, and also met Leo IRL. Lots of ideas there to get hands on and make happen.
We skipped this weeks Bitcoin Core App call, but had some discussions around the big picture of the project, its role in the ecosystem, and why it matters.
Helped with some QA for Saving Satoshi, thanks to the devs for making it all real. No big design tasks there at the moment, as lesson content for chapter 5 is getting fleshed out.
Worked on the latest newsletter with Mo.
We had a design guide jam session, and I worked on a few technical PRs for improving search and accessibility.
Karnage sent me a 40-minute video design review of Nosta and I took notes. Huge thanks for doing that. Also, during my vaca there were 3 new NIPs merged that should be added to the site. Things are moving fast, I may need to create bounties to invite people to help the site keep up.
We had a call with Open Collective Europe for the Bitcoin Design Foundation, and tons of conversations and document writing happened in the background to get things set up.
Had some conversations around the UI Kit as a project. Me being spread so thinly, I think it needs another longer-term contributor to help maintain and evolve it.
Spoke with Johns abound hackathons and the design community, and how we can encourage and support people in participating and having a good time. Would love to see people take this opportunity to explore some of the ideas that fascinate them.
Feels like a lot of new ideas and initiatives came up this week organically, and maybe the next few weeks are about acting on them.
Didn’t really spend much time at all actually designing things this week. Just put together a quick mock-up below for a screen that shows an app with lots of different wallets on various layers. I’m starting look at this more closely as part of this issue. Not sure how all this layering will pan out, but people will likely have multiple wallets for different purposes. If they end up in single apps, we’ll have to manage them somehow. Even if you just have one, you might have a history of wallets in an app (let’s say you start with a single-sig, but then upgrade to a multi-sig for better security, all in the same app). We’ll see…
That’s it. Happy Friday.
