I must have spent 15+ hours last week generating images for Saving Satoshi and made a ton of progress. This task had just been lingering for too long and we could not find contributors who had the time and could pick up the style, story, etc. So I decided to power through it and try to get a really good first version of all required images done, based on the storyboard I laid out recently.
There are 6 images that I don’t have a first draft for yet. Once those are done, we can review everything and pick out what needs to level up in which way. There are some obvious ones, like ensuring good-enough consistency of characters and environments. And some more subjective ones like whether the the balance of humor/seriousness is appropriate, characters actually work, how we portray future tech and especially bitcoin future tech is right, etc. It doesn’t all have to be perfect, but I’d like to have a certain level of quality throughout. Otherwise, chapter 3 is in development, and we have a kick-off session to discuss chapter 4 design today.
UI Kit refresh work continues. Lots of little tweaks last week that will not stand out, but address many minor issues and make the kit easier to work with in different ways (browsing screens, switching modes, screen components, etc). We’ll have a working session this week to catch up and discuss what to work on next.
Wallet Scrutiny has not soft-launched yet, still refining a few things that will make the experience that much better. You always discover a few things when you get really close to putting a project live.
For Nosta, I pushed a new data overlay live. It’s more of a thing for technical people, but very helpful if you want to understand the data that actually makes up a profile. A second part to this, coming at some point, is that it analyzes the data a little bit and points out issues the user can fix with one or two clicks. For example, it can tell you when there’s outdated profile info floating around and offer to fix it. Or recover an old follow list that’s still around if a client has messed up your current one. Just trying to slowly do really small improvements, one by one. Also, Nosta was mentioned in an interview, super cool.
But today I’ll mostly focus on the guide and catch up with a handful of issues, like creating a PR for the wallet selector issue and thinking through how we can add/reference the UX research kit and the code libraries.
The newsletter will also go out on Wednesday and we’ll have the community call. Always a takes some time to prep, but it’s important to give visibility to all the activity in the community.
Happy Monday.
