Is this a Monday update now? Maybe.
Last week was accessibility awareness day. I think it went pretty well. We had a really nice group of people join our workshop kick-off session, various wallet projects show their support and participate, and generated some chatter (= awareness).
While organizing the event, I also managed to get a few things done. Here’s a PR for the design guide with a proof-of-concept high contrast mode. And below is an accessibility hit-list for Damus. Took about 45 minutes to test and document and should cover a vast amount of issues. Getting started with accessibility may feel overwhelming, but it’s actually pretty easy to both test and fix. What are a few hours compared to making your app usable to a whole lot of people out there. It will be interesting to organize another accessibility awareness day next week and see what has happened since.
Also, we’ll have a Damus design review session this week. I’m really looking forward to it.
Mo put these pillows together (via RedBubble) for BTC Prague and had them shipped to me (since I’ll be driving there and can transport them more easily). All AI-generated, except for one. These should really add some flair to the hotel sofas we’ll have in the hack day space. I should get the card decks delivered tomorrow. The conference is coming up in 2 weeks, so time to start generating some buzz, getting my presentations together, finalizing various booth and hack-day materials we need, etc.
Accessibility day, community call and the newsletter took a lot of time, along with BTC Prague organization and the usual base amount of community management activity.
But I managed to squeeze some work in for Saving Satoshi, both on design and dev support (testing & QA). Chapter 2 implementation is so close to the finish line.
And happy Bitcoin Pizza Day. Coincidentally we’ll have pizza for dinner.
