In my last post I ranted a bit about accessibility. Since then I’ve been trying to help improve Blue Wallet accessibility. I opened a PR with some label fixes, created a few more issues, and exchanged a few messages with the team to make improvements. Didn’t get to do much on this in the second half of the week, but will get back to it again early next week. This stuff really isn’t difficult technically, someone just needs to do it. To that extent, I also posted in the hot new Bitcoin Product Community (just launched Monday) to see if anyone wants to help out. Between those efforts, and a campaign for Global Accessibility Awareness Day (still need to plan that), I hope we can get a few things moving.
I did not have a lot of time for Saving Satoshi, but managed to iterate on the chapter 2 experience a bit.
For Wallet Scrutiny, I spent some time organizing the previous design explorations for the home page and also did a mock-up of a direction that really breaks with the current visuals as a way to expand our conversations a bit further and see how everyone responds. This mixes a restyling with copy changes and UI changes. We’ll have to discuss these separately, choose what to move forward with, and the see how the changes can be implemented step by step.
As part of the Nostr hackathon I tried to wrap up a functional version of Nosta (with a ton of missing and unpolished things).
Here’s my pitch for that in text and video form (starts at 1 hour and 6 minutes).
For the UX research kit effort, I wrote a first draft on the topic of “Building in public”. It’s a topic I really care about, would love to hear what you think. Check it out.
And some planning activity was also part of this week, for BTC Prague, upcoming Design Guide milestones, the Bitcoin Core App, and the UI Kit.
Plenty of things I didn’t get to. Luckily, they will still be waiting for me next week 😜.
Shout-out to all the great people in and around bitcoin for making all this stuff a pleasure to be part of.
