#48 Eclectic surf photography

Or something like that...

I got to dive into Elliptic Curve Cryptography this week, to help translate Stacie’s Chapter 3 lesson content into an interactive experience for Saving Satoshi. Quite complex and interesting, especially the part about how no one apparently knows the origins of the secp256k1 curve and how the generator point was chosen. But it works, so everyone uses it. Funny, I somehow expected some super specific math answer there. Still lots to learn, but it’s necessary to create an interesting interactive experience around it. Fingers crossed we can pull that off, I hope to share more next week.

We also kicked off our first weekly image generation jam, this one for the cover image for chapter 1. It’s so easy to generate pleasing images, but very tricky to get appropriate content, composition, and style for specific parts of the story. It will definitely continue to be an iterative process.

Development is also moving along, we had a great team call with some new faces, and I think we’ll make really good progress now. There is a lot of finessing still to do on the site until it will feel right.

Lots of balls in the air on this project this week. I think it will settle pretty quickly though.

For Wallet Scrutiny, the design work on the wallet page an expert options has arrived at a detail level, meaning we can finalize specs and get them ready for development. I’ll have to schedule that in, potentially next week.

The home page will be next. Will it include dogs like below? I hope not, that just was for fun. But it might include some of the copy below, which came from our dedicated “copy guy” who loves being called that.

The Bitcoin Core App is finally mega-close to a V1 launch. Jarol and Johnny are putting final touches on things. I think I’ve written this a bunch of times now, but this time should really be it. So thankful for the team to be so persistent and positive on making the application happen.

• Chris is making great systematic progress on improving the structure of the UI Kit

• Had a nice afternoon hangout with Bumi and René. Cool things happening at Alby

• Foundation tax research is continuing… making progress

• Let’s make BOLT12 and async payments happen soon, please

That’s it for today. I am also tuning in to the UX research all while writing this, so this post may have been a bit all over the place. Typically I don’t like to multi-task, but sometimes… just sometimes… it’s the trendy thing to do.
