Hooray, it’s 2023 and things are back in full swing. Hope you also had a good break and got to hang out with friends and family.
This week started slowly but quickly. Slowly in that I eased into work, and quickly in that it’s been super busy catching up with things.
A few things I worked on:
Several PRs for Saving Satoshi to componentize the UI, add theming and responsive logic, fix bugs, etc. Still a whole bunch of basic front-end dev work to do, but it’s coming along. Then the focus will shift more on content. The team has big goals for this project, and things are just starting to ramp back up.
Starting to finalize designs for an updated wallet page for Wallet Scrutiny. This is primarily an information design task to take this complex security analysis and make it easy to parse from top to bottom, including by people who rarely deal with this type of content.
Some detail mock-ups for the Bitcoin Core App around the block clock and various input field states.
Researching whether we can get non-profit status for a Bitcoin Design Foundation in Germany. Fun stuff to read through various laws and rulings. I think it will work, but let’s see how conversations with the lawyer and government person turn out.
Discussing conferences, Payjoin design challenges, Jobs to be Done, Tiankii, announcing community and jam session calls, kicking off the next newsletter, archiving the Designathon website, and various other conversations and small stuff.
I see lots of excitement and curiosity about what 2023 will bring. Also various worries, as 2022 was super problematic for the industry and various people are not where they’d like to be.
This year is going to be a lot of work, but it’s going to be awesome. So much cool stuff being built, so many interesting people here, there’s nothing I’d rather work on.
Let’s do it 🤝
Also, make sure to check out Mo and Stephen’s weekly updates. Weekly updates are the hot thing, you should do them as well.
