A big focus last week was about our second board meeting of the Bitcoin Design Foundation. Us admins share what happened the last 6 months and what the next 6 months offer. Grants, fundraising, operations, strategy… all that good stuff. It’s a good check-in to get everyone on the same page, and then have various follow-up conversations and make adjustments as needed.
Overall, things are going well with the foundation. It’s still a young organization and all aspects of it need to evolve. But, dare I say, we’re doing a lot with a little and getting good results. We just need to keep at it, and be smart in our choices.
Big thanks to my fellow foundation admins Mo and Daniel, as well as our board members Basak, Johns, and Conor.
The other project that takes a lot of time is the Designathon. The website is live with a registration form, I think we have about 30 signups so far. Today we’ll push idea submission live, so people can start adding project ideas they are excited about. That will hopefully spark conversations and get everyone thinking about what they might want to work on. Which will then make it easer for projects to form.
We’re also going to sponsor design tracks the BTC++ Austin Hackathon, as well as the Bitcoin 2025 hackathon. First time we’re officially doing so, it will be great to have design as proper tracks and prizes. Super cool when events start crossing over, that’s very healthy for the ecosystem and more fun and interesting for participants.
Core app things are progressing. Here are some context menus, we just finalized the design system for those this week. Fairly straightforward, mostly about taking stock of the different configuration and interaction logic needs across the app for these menus, and then build a component system around it. So there’s just one header and one item component, with various configuration options to create all these menus.
Also cool that HRF funded another (anonymous) dev for the project. That will hopefully help us move faster.
Anyhow, keeping this shorter, it’s time to get to work. Thanks to all the fantastic people making things happen in this ecosystem.
