#111 Returning
After retreating.
Two week update here.
First week was our foundation retreat, which was really great. We’ll share a an update on the Foundation’s Open Collective page about it, so I won’t say too much. Just that it was great hanging out in person and getting on the same page about a myriad of small and big things. We have a big mission and some big goals, there’s no certainty that it will all work out, but we’ll certainly fight for it.
And then last week was straight back into the action. I was all over the place again, out of necessity, so I’ll keep it to a shorter list.
Finalizing fellow & project matching for the Bitshala design fellowship. That is nicely coming together, thank you to everyone involved.
Filed an issue Muun that I ran into recently.
Conversing around naming of reusable addresses on the Blue Wallet repo. There’s also a styling issue with some action.
Related to the first issue, I am trying to put together a plan for an initiative to promote and get implemented certain UX standards for smoother end-user experiences (like tangling the many address format we have). Still in scheming and conversation mode there. This might be a big focus for me in 2025.
Set up a self-hosted Umami instance for tracking on the guide (see issue).
Looks like we need to change the term “Block clock” in the Bitcoin Core App due to a copyright infringement issue on another project (issue).
PR review and live pushing of three Bitcoin Design Guide PRs (silent payments, inheritance, contribute page tweaks).
Started outlining a 2025 call for proposals for the Bitcoin Design Foundation. We have an existing one that needs updating with our latest learnings.
Various minor follow-up things from the retreat (like reviewing Mo’s draft of the aforementioned retreat summary).
And something I did not get to at all unfortunately was the core app. Really need to set aside time for that this week. We need to get Michael’s design reviewed and documented, and then come up with a list of follow-up design tasks. Also need to revise issues and get PRs and catch up with the devs on everything. Let’s see what we can make happen there.
And for no reason, some thoughts on naming around lightning liquidity.
Actually, the reason is that I’d like every post to have an image, and this just happens to be one that I have at hand.
