This was a fun discussion and exploration the past few days. We now have a lot of different bitcoin address formats. Some new ones have appeared and might be maturing and becoming dominant at some point (TBD). So we’re in some awkward place where wallets support different formats, users have different expectations, etc. And then, there’s the evergreen conversation around what to call things, with often an initial direction coming from the more technical arena, which then may now make much sense for end-users. Good thing is that UIs often work on a much more abstracted level, and it is often possible to avoid complex terms altogether with just the right UX copywriting and interaction design. The video is from some explorations I did this morning on that every topic.
Will have to see how this can make it into the guide.
TABConf is coming up soon, and I have a bunch of image generation work to finalize for the conference for Saving Satoshi, where the team gets together, we have some presentations, a booth, etc. Below is example from rendering a scene in the apartment of our protagonist. Story direction was a “3d printed bungalow”. So what does that look like in 2139? After some tinkering, I ended up with this exterior shot, from which I then generated interior shots.
I rendered the characters separately, and then composed the final image. Which you can tell, because the lighting and style is not super consistent. But that’s going to have to come in another iteration. For now, it’s close enough.
Not sure if I’ll ever have the chance to work on another creative project quite like Saving Satoshi. It’s such a unique mix.
Oh, and the bitcoin script editor is also live now.
We had presentations from the Summer of Bitcoin students. Check it out, some really cool work there.
We had a few more calls for the Open Design Guide reading club. That is coming along nicely, and I think this first content revision is going to make a really big difference. The chapter 2 revision is ready for review.
Lots of foundation things happening as well, pretty much all operations related. Next week will be the first board meeting, with our brand new board. Another cool step forward in the maturing of this initiative.
Probably forgetting lots of things here, but it’s Friday afternoon, it’s been a long and intense week, and these updates are meant to be super short.
Have a splendid weekend.
