This week was fairly hands-on.
For Saving Satoshi, I came up with the first iteration of the chapter 10 content, that I feel like is going in the right direction. Generating images for it is going to be quite a bit of work and it will be interesting to see if Midjourney can do it.
For Bitcoin Core App, we’re trying to finalize our approach to the receive screen. Did more design mockups to fully flesh out the direct-to-address approach, how first-time users would experience it, and how silent payments addresses might be added in the future.
It was really nice to have two PR review reading sessions this week, for Yashraj’s work on silent payments, and Erik’s work on ecash. Clear and concise writing is really hard, especially for technical content. Reading sessions always seem to be appreciated.
I put together a doc with tips to use AI for content reviews. It’s really an excellent companion that can help us do better work more effectively.
Speaking of reading clubs, there’s a good amount of interest in doing one for the Open Design Guide. Now I’m trying to get the scheduling figured out, which is tricky with so many time zones. People are really spread all around the world.
For another initiative, I posted to see if there’s interest in organizing another Designathon. I think there is. It’s a lot more work to organize, and this year we would not have the tailwinds of a Legends of Lightning tournament. Would be amazing to do, especially if we can do a design-improve-athon that is all about getting into existing projects we know and appreciate and making them better. Will have to dig deeper into this initiative next week and come up with next steps.
Also check out the latest Bitcoin Design newsletter. I co-edit it with Mo, and in addition I also handle the community Nostr and Twitter accounts. If you’d like to help out with those, or know someone who does, please let me know.
Lots to do. All good stuff. With nice people. Let’s do it.
