Back in action. Vacation was great, I even managed to forget about work and bitcoin stuff here and there. But I brought a summer cold home, so I’m a little less energetic than I was hoping for. Oh well, that’s just how the cookie crumbles.
I really only picked things up again yesterday, catching up with tons of conversations. The world has not drastically changed in two weeks, it appears. But coming back after a break always makes we want to take stock of all the projects and initiatives and come up with a fresh plan and list of priorities. I think it’s going to be a busy fall with a lot of different things to weave together.
For Saving Satoshi, the crew did another iteration of the story, an essential part of the experience. The script editor is also coming along, below is a mock-up I did to fine-tune the visuals of the drag-and-drop editor. Work is also happening on testing and refining, swag, and various core improvements. Full speed ahead.
For Bitcoin Core App, I mostly caught up with conversations. There’s some good discussion happening around the receive screen, whether to be more explicit about payment requests or get users ASAP to an address. I am more on the side of being explicit. Seems more appropriate if we consider a future where onchain payments will be larger amounts, and we try to guide users towards being considerate in their actions. Anyways, here’s a quick exploration of that other direction.
And to my total surprise, I managed to create a pull request on the project, tweaking a few font weights and colors. I always struggle with these build processes, so this was a nice break.
Also, OpenSats is now supporting the project as part of their commitment to Bitcoin Core. Super nice.
For the Open Design Guide, I reviewed Michael and Mo’s feedback (thank you), and started asking around for people interested in a weekly reading club. Ideally we can get a handful of people to go over one page per week to come up with improvements.
Summer of Bitcoin is also about to wrap. So I will wrap up this newsletter and review some student designs before heading out for the day.
